We are investigating development processes and maintenance machineries of diseases caused by hyper-responses of immune system as well as immunodeficiency, and trying to develop manipulating methods for regulating the immune system. Currently, following three topics are our main target projects. 1) Signal transduction and regulation in the lymphocyte development or terminal differentiation of mature B cells. 2) Place (organ, tissue) and mechanisms for the production of natural antibodies as well as auto-antibodies involved in the development of various autoimmune diseases. 3) Regulations for the maintenance and expansion of hematopoietic stem cells and progenitors, which are critical cell fractions for maintaining immune system during life as well as reconstituting hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic organs in regenerative medicine.
